Bob H. Lee spent over three decades as a water patrol officer on the St. Johns River and a land patrol lieutenant in Putnam, St. Johns, and Flagler counties. His memoir, Backcountry Lawman: True Stories from a Florida Game Warden, recounts fascinating adventures from his years chasing poachers through Florida’s public wilderness tracts, cattle ranches, and water courses. The book has been tremendously popular since its publication in 2013, and we are pleased to announce that it is now available in paperback.

Backcountry Lawman was selected as the 2014 Community Read for Putnam County, Florida, which led to a fantastic series of book events last year.

One of the best stories of all happened after the book was published. Author Bob Lee became friends with the most infamous poacher in his book and his biggest rival, Roger Gunther. “If you ask anyone in this area, anyone who ever gets in the outdoors, who the most notorious poacher was, they’ll say Roger,” Lee told ABC/NBC First Coast News.
Gunther even joined Lee for a few book signings.
