Last week our director, Meredith Morris-Babb, traveled to St. Louis to take part in the 84th Annual AAPA meeting, connect with scholars, and display UPF’s wide collection of physical anthropology books! Our booth featured over 30 different titles from a varied group of archaeologists and anthropologists. Two of our newest titles, The Archaeology of American Cemeteries and Gravemarkers by Sherene Baugher and Richard F. Veit and Tracing Childhood: Bioarchaeological Investigations of Early Lives in Antiquity edited by Jennifer L. Thompson, Marta P. Alfonso-Durruty, and John J. Crandall sold out on the first day, along with the ever-popular The Bioarchaeology of the Human Head: Decapitation, Decoration, and Deformation edited by Michelle Bonogofsky. Her book will be out in paperback this July, and if you stopped by the booth during the conference and didn’t see it, you can browse through this excerpt.
Our top seller was The Bioarchaeology of Violence edited by Debra L. Martin, Ryan P. Harrod, and Ventura R. Pérez, followed closely by Charlotte A. Roberts and Jane E. Buikstra’s The Bioarchaeology of Tuberculosis.
Recently named a Choice Outstanding Academic Title of the Year, Encyclopedia of Caribbean Archaeology edited by Basil A. Reid and R. Grant Gilmore III was another popular title.
