“Meet the Publisher”

August 9, 1:30 PM

Orlando Public Library

Orange County Library System is hosting a “Meet the Publisher” event on Sunday, August 9, at the downtown Orlando Library. Our Director and AAUP President, Meredith Morris-Babb, will be there alongside other publishers to answer your questions about the publishing world. There will be a Q&A session followed by a meet and greet, where each publisher will have their own table and will be available to chat 1-on-1 with writers. Whether you’re a seasoned writer with a couple books under your belt, or a new writer wondering what the publishing process is all about, stop by with your questions in mind, and be sure to visit our table to talk with Meredith and browse some of our bestselling titles of the year.

TEDxOrlando

September 12, 11 AM

Garden Theatre

We’ll be at TEDxOrlando with a table of our bestselling books. Tickets for the TEDxOrlando event are quickly selling out, but will be available for a limited time at www.tedxorlando.com for $90. If you’ve already registered, or plan to attend, we hope you’ll stop by our table to browse our titles and introduce yourself!

Bill Belleville, our author of the recent The Peace of Blue: Water Journeys, will be speaking as part of the program. Belleville, the Seminole County Artist of the Year, has won various awards for his environmental writing and documentaries, including a Suncoast Emmy for Wekiva: Legacy or Loss?, a statewide PBS documentary about the natural history of Wekiva River and the challenges facing it. His recent book, The Peace of Blue, the silver medalist for Florida nonfiction in the 2014 Florida Book Awards, contains personal essays poetically affirming the many ways in which water-driven landscapes nurture plants, wildlife and the human spirit.

In hosting this event, the organizers hope to “offer the Orlando community an opportunity to gather and share the excitement of big ideas worth spreading, and to celebrate technology, entertainment, and design in Central Florida,” according to the website.
