Last week, UPF was in New York City displaying our books at the Latin American Studies Association 2016 meeting, which celebrated LASA’s 50th anniversary!

We had a great time in the city, displaying our collection books in Latin American and Caribbean studies, as well as mingling with conference attendees and scholars in the field.

We were excited to catch UPF authors at our exhibit booth, such as Iraida H. López, author of Impossible Returns: Narratives of the Cuban Diaspora, Scott Ickes, author of African-Brazilian Culture and Regional Identity in Bahia, BrazilNina Schneider, author of Brazilian Propaganda: Legitimizing an Authoritarian RegimeJohn Kirk, author of Healthcare without Borders: Understanding Cuban Medical InternationalismApril Mayes, author of The Mulatto Republic: Class, Race, and Dominican National Identity, Ana María Reyes, co-editor of Simón Bolívar: Travels and Transformations of a Cultural Iconand many more!

Thank you to all the conference attendees who also stopped by our booth–we enjoyed meeting you all!

We introduced our new book series Reframing Media, Technology, and Culture in Latin/o America, edited by Héctor Fernández L’Hoeste and Juan Carlos Rodríguez, which explores how Latin American and Latino audiovisual, musical, and graphic cultural practices reframe and reconfigure social, economic, and political discourses at a local, national, and global level.
