University Press of Florida (UPF) is pleased to announce staff promotions, changes, and hires across five departments. Please join all of us at the Press in congratulating these staff members on their new roles.

Janie Chan joined UPF in July as associate editor in the Acquisitions Department. Chan’s publishing background includes several years at Princeton University Press as acquisitions editorial associate in sociology, economics, finance, and cognitive sciences, as well as experience at the University of Wisconsin Press as assistant acquisitions editor focusing on history, Southeast Asian studies, Indigenous studies, and Wisconsin food and beverage history. Chan holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University. In her current role as associate editor, Chan acquires books for the Press in the areas of natural history, sustainability, environmental studies, and gardening.

In the Sales and Marketing Department, Jenna Kolesari was recently promoted to academic promotions manager. Kolesari joined UPF in 2019 after completing a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the University of Notre Dame and serving as assistant acquisitions editor at the University of Notre Dame Press. Kolesari started at UPF as exhibits and promotions coordinator and quickly took on additional responsibilities within the department. As academic promotions manager, Kolesari strategizes promotions of Press books to academic audiences and coordinates journal marketing while continuing to coordinate the exhibits and awards programs for the Press. Kolesari also manages the internship program for the Sales and Marketing Department.

Karina Tamayo started in October as publicity assistant in the Sales and Marketing Department. Tamayo holds bachelor’s degrees in English and music from the University of Florida and an MBA from Florida Gulf Coast University. She has worked in administrative positions involving social media coordination in Gainesville and Naples. A member of the local Gainesville band Tamayo, she manages the band’s social media presence. As publicity assistant for UPF, Tamayo will help facilitate media coverage of Press books, promote author events, and create content for social media and other Press communication channels.

After starting as a part-time journals assistant in 2021, Raven Hudson joined UPF full time this year as journals and EDP assistant. In this role, Hudson assists the Journals Department and the Editorial, Design, and Production Department with the copyediting and production of journals and books. Hudson holds a bachelor’s degree in English and gender and sexuality studies from Davidson College, where they served in leadership roles with the student magazine Libertas and the student newspaper The Davidsonian.

In the Orders and Shipping Department, Chris Warner has been promoted to operations assistant. Warner started at UPF in 2013 as customer service representative. Since joining UPF, Warner has taken on increasing responsibilities, including handling orders from large customer accounts, and implemented a new inventory organization and tracking system for the UPF warehouse. As operations assistant, Warner continues to receive and process orders for Press books, pull and pack daily shipments, and maintain organization of book inventory, while overseeing and assisting with additional daily operations tasks.
