At the University Press of Florida and UF Press, we’ve had the honor of sharing news and updates and connecting with our readers through our blog, The Florida Bookshelf. In our 80th anniversary year, we’re excited to announce some big changes, including the launch of a redesigned website which will house our new blog at floridapress.org. This will be the final post on The Florida Bookshelf, which will go offline in January 2026. We encourage our readers to check floridapress.org/news for news about our books and authors going forward.

University Press of Florida (UPF) is delighted to announce the launch of a redesigned website and invites visitors to explore its new home at floridapress.org. A fully reimagined look and long-awaited technical upgrades have improved the site’s discoverability and user experience.

The new website was built by Supadu, a leading website provider for both trade and university presses, and facilitated by Joanne Thomas, marketing services manager at Longleaf Services. UPF’s goal was a bright, streamlined, and accessible online presence, and Supadu helped realize this vision. New features include the ability to browse books by custom subjects tailored to the Press’s publishing areas; an enhanced shopping cart and checkout experience; and the sale of ebooks directly to customers for the first time in UPF’s history, fulfilled by Glassboxx and the Leaf eReader app.

An updated website has been a dream for UPF for years, and staff are thrilled with the result. “We would like to thank Supadu for their work on this project and Joanne Thomas for tirelessly ensuring that no detail was overlooked, as well as the Council of Academic Vice Presidents of the State University System of Florida, whose support made the new website possible,” says Romi Gutierrez, UPF director.

The website launches at the end of UPF’s 80th anniversary year, which has brought many changes for the Press, including refreshed logos for UPF and the UF Press imprint. Created by book designer Mindy Hill, these logos are displayed on the new website and are integral to its design. Earlier in the year, UPF transitioned from self-distribution to fulfillment through Longleaf Services, a move that served as a springboard to the website build with Supadu. The new website became a reality on a brisk timeline—approximately 9 months from proposal to finished product.

Website visitors can take advantage of UPF’s annual holiday sale for 40% off their purchase and free shipping within the US on orders over $75. Featured titles in the sale include Miami’s Art Boom by Elisa Turner, which traces Miami’s transformation into a hub of global artistic exchange, and Other People’s Mothers by Julie Marie Wade, a coming-of-age story told through one young woman’s relationships with the mother figures in her life. Discount code 31HOL25 is valid through December 31, 2025.
